I'm always terrible at intros, so I'm going to wimp out and instead present my answers to a couple of surveys posted earlier in this blog :)
1. How did you find this KAL?
That nifty "current KAL" website.
2. What do you plan on making with your Alpaca fiber? Crocheting, knitting, or spinning? If knitting or crocheting give us details on the yarn!
I currently have a fair isle sweater (the one from VK fall 2006) on the needles. Sad thing is, I haven't touched it since October! It's about halfway up the back, and looks alright so far. I have nothing but absolute praise for the alpaca/silk blend that I'm using. It's Knit Picks Elegance.
I also need to make myself another pair of fingerless gloves (my own silly, meandering pattern) with the buttery-soft Elsebeth Lavold ClassicAL. My first pair, after having served bravely for 2 winters in a row, have finally developed undeniable holes in the thumbs. The second pair won't have thumbs, most definately!
Finally, there's this giant afghan that I've been meaning to start for ages now. It's pretty far down the list of project priorities now!
3. Have you worked with Alpaca before? If so, your favorite past project knit with Alpaca?
So far the only completed project I've made with alpaca are my fingerless mitts with Elsebeth ClassicAL. Mmm, I love that yarn!
4. What is your absolute favorite Alpaca yarn? What weight do you prefer working with?
I am *blushingly* ignorant of alpaca! I hope to broaden my horizons with this KAL.
5. What sorts of things would you like to see this group do? Would you like any contests, prizes, surveys, swaps?
Great question! So far I'm grappling with the mountain of WIPs that I have. I really love swaps, though, and contests and prizes are always fun!

1. I've been hooked on the needles since?
Knitting for about 4 years, crochet for 1 and cross-stitch for about 2 months!
2. I'm still a virgin, but not for long: to steeking and mitred squares.
3. She's crafty - she gets around...to : knitting, sewing, quilting, crochet and cross stitch.
She's crafty - she's always down...for: reading, playing my guitar.
She's crafty - she's got a gripe...about : not living in a yarn store!
She's crafty - and she's just my type. What type of knitter are you? Terrific question. I'm crazy about starting new projects, not so much about finishing them.

5. I gravitate towards colors like? (I have to copy your answers, knitten kitten, cause they're the very same as mine!) earth tones like greens, browns, pinks, creams and golds are my favourites. I don't care for blue or red.

7. I'm stuck on an island, what am I reading? Jane Austen.
8. If I were about to be executed and I was offered a last meal , I'd be dining on: butter chicken and basmati, with a decadent cheesecake to finish.

2. What do you plan on making with your Alpaca fiber? Crocheting, knitting, or spinning? If knitting or crocheting give us details on the yarn! I'm going to be doing some freeform knitting with stash alpaca and probably some yet-to-be purchased non-stash alpaca.
3. Have you worked with Alpaca before? If so, your favorite past project knit with Alpaca?
Yep, I made a poncho out of Catalina 60/40 alpaca/merino blend. Very soft and lovely...
4. What is your absolute favorite Alpaca yarn? What weight do you prefer working with?
I have to say I'm in love with Misti Alpaca Chunky...
5. What sorts of things would you like to see this group do? Would you like any contests, prizes, surveys, swaps?
Oooh. Um... contests and swaps sound good. Plus surveys would be nice. And who doesn't like prizes? So, I guess all or any of those sound good.
My digital camera's dead right now, but hopefully I can revive it and get some pictures up soon.

2. What do you plan on making with your Alpaca fiber? Crocheting, knitting, or spinning? I've only purchased 1 skein but I think it will be enough to knit another groovie head like a hole hat.

Never have. It's going to be a real treat!

No faves yet but I'm working with a chunky one.

Just a Few...
Questions.
I thought I'd encourage more posting, since I'm guessing most of us are in the middle of other projects or maybe don't have progress pictures. Whatever the reason, I'd love to see more interaction. So, how about a little survey? I'll start.
1. How did you find this KAL?
Okay, well that's cheating for me because I started it, but I'm interested to see how the rest of you found this.
2. What do you plan on making with your Alpaca fiber? Crocheting, knitting, or spinning? If knitting or crocheting give us details on the yarn!
I have several projects planned, hey, we have a whole year right?! My first one will be a cropped top-down raglan in grey Skacel Alpaca Seta. The picture is in a post below. Also, a cropped lace tee from IK summer 06 in KnitPicks Alpaca Cloud. A pale yellow for the April/May months of Project Spectrum. The biggest project will be a sweater for my husband in Elsebeth Lavold Classic Al. Apparently men aren't a fan of color and stick with natural or neutral colors.
3. Have you worked with Alpaca before? If so, your favorite past project knit with Alpaca?
My ver first ever hat. Knit with Blizzard in, I think the color was tan?
4. What is your absolute favorite Alpaca yarn? What weight do you prefer working with?
This is tough, and I know a few of you own Alpacas and spin your own. I guess I generally prefer a DK weight, but I do love that Blizzard yarn. It's soft and warm!
5. What sorts of things would you like to see this group do? Would you like any contests, prizes, surveys, swaps?
I'm running this, but I really want some input from my participants. Doing some swaps or contests sounds like a fun idea to me, and I don't think I'd be totally opposed. Tutorials would be nice if you can think of anything we would need tutorials on.
Take this and run with it. Please post your answers to this blog, and your own if you want, so that we can all see. Also, if I haven't added your info to the sidebar, just let me know. I get a bit forgetful sometimes.
